In April 2006, we introduced AP-Innovation TORAY 21, a long-term corporate vision, under which Toray Group aims to be a global top business group of advanced materials . We look to firmly continue on our path of pursuing a new leap forward based on the keyword “Innovation.” We have taken up the challenge of becoming a corporate group that grows globally through dynamic development backed by science and technology.
Fiscal year 2010 marks the year for us to accomplish the medium-term management program “Project IT-II (Innovation TORAY II)” launched in April 2009. Under the program, the Group has been working earnestly to improve earnings through measures such as bolstering total cost competitiveness and implement measures aimed at achieving business structural reform. At the same time, we are pursuing growth strategy by focusing on business expansion from a fresh perspective of providing solutions to factors that constrain future economic growth, such as environment, resources and energy, while contributing to the economic development of China and other emerging countries. Though the economic environment continues to be severe, we are determined to keep pursuing proactive business activities in concerted group-wide efforts, which have started bearing fruits in a consistent manner.
