Toray Membrane USA, Inc. (TMUS)
Opening Ceremony (Held On 07/09/2007)

TMUS plant walk-through

TMUS celebrated the opening of its new manufacturing facility for reverse osmosis membrane elements in San Diego County, California on July 9th. The gathered guests were an amalgam of water industry VIPs, local and foreign government officials, suppliers, customers, and members of Toray’s management team. The building dedication event, which lasted over three hours led by Mr. R. Truby, CEO of TMUS, included speeches by Mr. K.Schmidt, Representative from Poway City, Mr. K. Kodama, the Japanese Consul General, and Mr. A. Nikkaku, Executive Vice President of Toray head office.
There was also a plaque dedication, a catered barbeque, and music provided by a live band.

The highlight of the event, however, was the plant walk-through which provided a firsthand look at the internal workings of TMUS’s highly advanced manufacturing process, giving customers and suppliers alike arare internal view of the facility. Many attendees were more than happy to discuss the heavy impact this event had as it represents the first time T’s autowinders (automated machines responsible for the bulk of the manufacturing process) have been shown to the vast majority of the invitees. Most expressed a better understanding of the overall processas well as a stronger appreciation for the technical skill involved in designing and running a machine of such magnitude and complexity.

Overall, the building dedication ceremony was hailed as a great success! TMUS wishes to thank the staff members who were on hand for helping to set up and administrate the event, which proceeded perfectly.
