Toray Carbon Fibers America, Inc. (CFA)
1000 Days and Counting (Apr. 8, 2010)
CFA holds safety as its Top Priority. The employees of CFA have been working hard over the past years to better their focus on personal safety. On April 8, they accomplished 1000 days without a recordable injury. The CFA plant received three separate awards from the State of Alabama, Manufacture Alabama and The Business Council of Alabama.

“We’ve been close before,” said Plant Manager Terry Patterson, but this time was different. “Employees seemed to be more aware and accountable for their own safety, as well as for their teammates. I’m very proud of all our personnel and commend them for a job well done. We are looking for that next milestone, three years and beyond”.
“CFA employees have a clearer understanding of what is required of them when it comes to their safety”, said President Kishio Miwa. “The past few years have been tough and unusual. Employees had to perform many unusual tasks. We asked all employees to recommit themselves and focus on their personal safety each and every day. They did what we asked and will do their best to keep their safety as Top Priority. I appreciate the effort given by all employees. I look forward to celebrating three years and beyond. “
All employees were treated to a steak dinner cooked by CFA team members. The employees also received a special gift; a Toray jacket commemorating the 1000 days. “I’m proud to have accomplished this award”, said Supervisor Heath Terry. “Safety is very important to all of our employees and we are committed to our goal of zero accidents each and every day.”
