CSR Activities Kick-off Meeting (Held On 05/25/2007)
ISTEM has been decided as a “Model Company” in Toray Indonesia Group. On May 25th, 2007 we held a CSR Activities Kick Off Meeting at the ISTEM Education Hall, with President Director Mr. H. Sasaki and Ms. K. Sakai, Manager of CSR Operation Group, Corporate Planning Department of Toray Industries, Inc.
The participants were managers in ISTEM and HR Members of Toray Indonesia Group as observers and the total of participants were about 40 people.
Mr. Sasaki, the Chairman of the CSR Activity launched the Organization Chart of the CSR Activity. The CSR activity members are all managers, and Mr. Sumardi, and Mr. Gamal A. Nasir were appointed as leaders and coordinators for the CSR Activity in ISTEM.
In Indonesia, pressure to promote CSR activities is getting stronger and many major corporations have started CSR activities. Most people in Indonesia think that CSR means the amount of donations to the local region, but after the training day from Ms.Sakai, we found that CSR has a much wider meaning.
Executing CSR consistently on a long term will gain the approval from the local society and assure sustainability of the company. Conditions mentioned earlier can bring economic business advantage to the company in the future. With the above understanding, it can be said that CSR is a prerequisite for a company to attain recognition within its society.
Our intention is that ISTEM to become a model as a representative of the Toray Indonesia Group. We also believe in the progress of ISTEM and that we will become a company favourably looked upon by the relevant stakeholders, “customers”, “stock holders and investors”, “employees”, “business partners”, “local community” and our “global environment”.
