Chief Minister of Penang Visits Toray (Held On 07/23/2007)

On July 23, a delegation from Penang, Malaysia, headed by Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon, Chief Minister of Penang, visited the tokyo head office of Toray Industries, Inc. and had a meeting with Mr. S. Sakakibara, President, CEO and COO, Mr. M. Yoshikawa, Executive Vice President and Representative Director, Mr. S. Koizumi, Senior Vice President (Member of the Board & Member of the Executive Committee).
The meeting began with an expression of gratitude by Dr. Koh to Toray Group for its investments and contributions to the community in Penang over 30 years. During the meeting, Dr. Koh also showed strong interests in managerial strategy of “IT-2010”, particularly Toray’s business expansion in advanced material businesses. He informed that the government of Penang will actively support any biotechnologies and pharmaceutical business. Views were also exchanged on a variety of topics, including the Malaysia Toray Science Foundation (MTSF), some introductions of recent big projects in Malaysia and the anniversary events to celebrate 50-year friendship between Malaysia and Japan. The meeting came to a close in a friendly atmosphere.
