Mr. Tomiita addressing the audience

MTSF capped another fruitful year by hosting its 14th Prize Presentation Ceremony on 13 December 2007 at the Hotel Nikko, Kuala Lumpur.

The presentation ceremony, registered as one of the Japan-Malaysia Friendship Year 2007 Official Programs to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Malaysia, was officiated by YB Dato’ Kong Cho Ha, Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation. His Excellency, Mr. M. Horie, the Ambassador of Japan also graced us by his presence together with other VIP guests including Mr. K. Tomiita, Senior Advisor of Toray Industries Inc., Japan and YB Tan Sri Law Hieng Ding, the Chairman of MTSF. On hand to receive the invited guests was Mr. M. Se, the Managing Director of MTSF.

At the ceremony, Tan Sri Law highlighted that the overall response to the various programs for this year has been very encouraging, particularly the Science Education Award which attracted a significantly higher number of entries from all over Malaysia. For 2007, a sum of RM425,000 in prizes and grants were presented to 32 Malaysian scientists, researchers and teachers.

A press conference chaired by YB Dato’ Kong Cho Ha was held before the ceremony ended with a sumptuous lunch in a warm and relaxed atmosphere.

It has indeed been an eventful and successful year and the Foundation is all geared up for another round of interesting programs for 2008.
