The 14th Awards Presentation Ceremony of TTSF took place on February 11th, at the Nai Lert Park Bangkok. The President of the Privy Council and Statesman H.E. General Prem Tinsulanonda, the guest of honor, many distinguished guests and those involved in TTSF activities especially Mr. H. Kobayashi, the Japanese Ambassador of Thailand and Dr. K. Maeda, Honorary Chairman of Toray Industries, Inc. and Honorary Chairman of TTSF, gathered to celebrate this ceremony.

This year, total of Baht 5.9 million were awarded to 29 recipients comprising of;

  1. Two Science and Technology Awards for researchers from Chiangmai University and Mahidol University
  2. Twenty projects of Science and Technology Research Grants in the field of physics - 2, chemistry - 5, engineering - 6 and agriculture - 7
  3. Seven Science Education Awards for junior and senior high school teachers

H.E. General Prem personally presented awards to all recipients and also expressed his admiration towards TTSF’s activities which contributes and greatly benefit towards the development of science and technology in Thailand. After the ceremony, H.E. General Prem also paid his attention to exhibition boards while the winners waited to introduce their works

Dr. Maeda expressed the importance of the contribution of TTSF towards the development of Thailand which cannot succeed without those who are related in some way to education in Thailand, like Prof. Dr. Kasem S., the 1st TTSF Chairman, the late Prof. Dr. Sippanondha K. and his long dedication and Prof. Dr. Yongyuth Y., present TTSF chairman, lead TTSF operation. In addition, it is with great honor for TTSF to have H.E. General Prem presiding over the ceremony every year. As 2007 is the 120th anniversary of the Thailand-Japan diplomatic relations, apart from TTSF’s activities to help promote the development of science and technology in Thailand, it is also helping to build a closer relationship between Thailand and Japan.
