Receiving the New Product Development
Award with over 4,000 units sold
In January 2010, TCH received the New Product Development Award at the 2009 Shanghai SMG-CJ Home Shopping Channel Grand Prize for selling Torayvino*, a home water purifier.
SMG-CJ is the most well-known TV shopping channel in Shanghai area with the largest in total sales. It offers an unimaginably wide range of products, with one of its most expensive upscale products being BMW automobiles. The shopping channel sold 40 BMWs overnight. Selection of featured products is very stringent and starts with in-house promoters screening products. These promoters develop a strategy for each product including pricing, combining products to promote and selection of giveaways. After confirming profitability, they start filming promotion clips.
Originally, General Manager of HOMES Water System Co, Ltd., which is one of Torayvino*’s sales agencies, brought in a proposal. General Manager of the New Business Development Division for TCH, together with General Manager of the New Business Development Department, were on SMG-CJ to promote TCH and Torayvino*. The channel had a campaign from July to September, which is a high-demand season for Torayvino*, and promotion clips were on air for 10 hours in total. Thanks to the strong backing of SMG-CJ, sales were boosted to over 4,000 units, leading us to receive the award.
Due to newly developed sales channels, our visibility has greatly improved and our market has suddenly expanded significantly.
