16th Award TTSF Presentation Ceremony (Feb. 8, 2010)

The 16th Awards Presentation Ceremony of TTSF has successfully been completed with pride and gladness for the winners and participants. On February 8, the ceremony with more than 200 guests and participants took place in Bangkok. The Privy Councillor H.E. General Surayud Chulanont, the guest of honor, distinguished guests and those involved in TTSF activities such as Mr. Kyoji Komachi, the Japanese Ambassador to Thailand, and Dr. Katsunosuke Maeda, Honorary Chairman of Toray Industries, Inc. and TTSF, gathered to celebrate this special event.

This year, the following awards totaling six million baht were granted to 37 recipients including (1) Science and Technology Awards for a researcher from Prince of Songkhla University and the research institute of Chulalongkorn University, (2) Science and Technology Research Grants for 25 projects; 9 in the field of agriculture, 5 in chemistry, 3 in physics and 8 in engineering, and (3) Science Education Awards for 10 junior and senior high school teachers.

H.E. General Surayud personally presented awards to all recipients and also expressed his admiration towards TTSF activities, which contribute and greatly benefit towards the development of science and technology in Thailand. After the ceremony, he also turned his attention to the exhibition boards where winners waited to introduce their works. Dr. Maeda expressed his thanks to all persons involved for their contribution to the on-going TTSF activities. He also addressed his expectation that TTSF will help promote the development of science and technology in Thailand by strengthening the knowledge base and building competent human resources in this field as well as being part of creating a closer relationship between Thailand and Japan.
