At its 10th anniversary, TSI changed its name to Toray Advanced Materials Korea Inc. (TAK) and announced its medium- and long-term corporate vision, “Vision 2020.” Vision 2020 will mainly focus on businesses in advanced materials, including carbon fibers, water treatment, solar cell and secondary battery-related materials.

As well as celebrating its 10th anniversary and making public its new corporate name, the Gold Tower Industrial Medal was presented to Mr. Sadayuki Sakakibara, President, CEO and COO of Toray Industries, Inc. at Shilla Hotel in Seoul on April 23. Over 350 guests attended including Mr. Choi Kyounghwan, Knowledge Economy Minister, Mr. Toshinori Shigeie, Japanese Ambassador to Korea, Mr. Lee Sang Deuk, Chairman of Korea-Japan Parliamentarians' Union and Mr. Lee Young Kwan, President of TAK.

The Gold Tower Industrial Medal is the most esteemed medal given to business people in Korea. Mr. Sakakibara received it for Toray Group’s continual capital and technological investment in Korea for over a decade and its contribution to the development of material related businesses in Korea. Mr. Choi personally presented the medal and testimonial to Mr. Sakakibara on behalf of the President of Korea.

At the anniversary ceremony following the medal presentation, guests made congratulatory speeches and then a visual presentation was shown on “The Ten-year History of TSI” and “The New Corporate Vision.” This vision is to grow into a company with annual sales of 3.5 trillion won by 2020 through the investment of 2.3 trillion won over the coming 10 years.

On the morning of the ceremony, TAK’s third plant and R&D center were dedicated. Mr. Nam Yoo Chin, Mayor of Gumi, attended along with many other guests.
