The First Agreement in 18 Years Regarding the Technology Export of Industrial Polyester Filament Yarn Manufacturing Plant in India (Held On 08/24/2007)

On August 24, at the Gummidipoondi Plant of SRF LIMITED, located near Chennai, India, Toray and Toray Engineering Co., Ltd. (TEK) signed a contract with SRF to export technology related to manufacturing plants for industrial polyester filament yarn. After signing the contract, a tree planting ceremony was held, it was attended by all including Mr. Sushil Kapoor, President & CEO of SRF, Mr. S. Suenaga, General Manager of Licensing Dept. of Toray, Mr. R. Kawamura, Vice President (Member of the Board) of TEK, Mr. S. Wada, Managing Director of Toray International Singapore Pte. Ltd. (TISP), and Mr. Y. Kanamitsu, Director of Toray International, Inc. (TI). The Gummidipoondi Plant will be the first plant in India to manufacture industrial polyester filament yarn for automobile tire cords. This technology exported to India by Toray is the first time in 18 years, ever since it had exported its technology related to industrial nylon filament yarn manufacturing plant business of CEAT Tyres of India Ltd. which was then subsequently acquired by SRF. On September 26, the first design conference was held on site, taking the lead was the Overseas Fibers Technical Dept., Industrial Filaments Technical Dept., and TEK.
