The other recipient was Sharp Corporation in recognition of its solar power generation. The Eco-Japan Cup is jointly promoted by the business sector and the government to identify and nurture ecological businesses through the presentation of awards. The sponsors are the Ministry of the Environment, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and HERB (chaired by Yuriko Koike, former minister of the Environment).
Among 300 some candidate companies, the Eco-Japan Cup 2007 chose Toray for its CFRP, which is an excellent advanced technology expected to make a significant impact in the reduction of greenhouse gas.
The award presentation took place during the 9th Eco Products 2007 held from December 13 to 15, 2007 and Mr. N. Saitou, Senior Vice President, received the award on behalf of Toray.
