Toray received the 54th Okochi Memorial Production Award for its development of a high performance reflection polyester film for a liquid crystal display backlight.

The award is given to organizations that made a significant contribution to the industry through an outstanding invention and/or innovation based on research in the field of industrial engineering and/or advanced production systems. Toray received the award thanks to the world’s first success in the development and mass-production of high performance reflection polyester film for LCDs through integrating Toray’s original polymer alloy technology and high precision stretching technology.

The award ceremony took place on March 11 at the Industrial Club of Japan and Mr. T. Togano, Senior Vice President, and Mr. K. Abe, Vice President received a certificate and a medal on behalf of the Company.
