The 7th Asian Chemical Fiber Industries Federation Conference (05/15/2008)

Mr. Sakakibara at the main session
For two days from May 15, the 7th Asian Chemical Fiber Industries Federation Conference was held, with top executives participating from nine countries and regions of Asia (China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Chinese Taipei and Thailand). A total of 35 people attended the meeting on behalf of Toray, headed by Dr. K. Maeda, Honorary Chairman, Mr. A. Shimomura, Chairman of the Board, and Mr. S. Sakakibara, President, CEO and COO.
The conference began in 1996, proposed by Dr. Maeda who was then a Chairman of the Japan Chemical Fibers Association. At this year’s conference, the numerous participants engaged in a lively discussion on topics including mid-term supply-demand forecast for synthetic fibers and the efforts to encounter the problem of imbalance. This fruitful conference was the outcome of the results from the previous six conferences and the trustworthy relations that have built among the participants.
