Emergency Relief for Sichuan Earthquake in China - Supplying dialyzers (05/24/2008)

The Dialysis machine
Due to the tremendous earthquake that struck Sichuan Province in China on May 12, several million people lost their homes and many victims of the disaster are enduring hardships. To assist the recovery effort, Toray Group has donated 10 million yen. The management and the labor union of the Ishikawa Plant of Toray which has trainees from group companies in China, jointly raised fund for the donation. Also, the actions listed below were provided as an emergency relief to the victims. We at Toray Group sincerely hope that the province will recover as soon as possible.
TMC supplied 20 sets of dialysis machines together with 10,000 pieces of Toray’s Filtryzer* for the purpose of crush syndrome treatment for victims, via the Japanese Government, in response to the request by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, who inspected the affected region immediately after the earthquake.
Also, the Medical Devices Department of Toray donated medical institutions (including West China Hospital of Sichuan University) with 16 pieces of Toraymyxin* to treat severe sepsis and septic shock patients.
