Opening Ceremony of the First Polyester Filament Plant for Tire Cords in India (Jun. 11, 2009)
The opening ceremony of India's first polyester filament yarn manufacturing plant for tire cords took place on June 11 at the Gummidipoondi Plant of SRF Limited, in the suburban area of Chennai. SRF is the largest tire cord manufacturer in India. With a technical license from Toray, SRF launched this plant in order to add polyester tire cords to its existing production lines of nylon tire cords.
Representatives and members related to the project attended the ceremony from Toray, Toray Engineering Co., Ltd. (TEK), Toray International, Inc. (TI), and Toray International Singapore Pte. Ltd. (TISP). The delegation included Mr. Kenji Ueno, General Manager of the International Division of Toray, Mr. Tokio Nakamura, President and CEO of TEK, Mr. Yasunori Kanamitsu, Director of TI, and Mr. Shigeru Wada, Managing Director of TISP. With prospects for future growth in India's automobile market, Toray promised to establish a closer relationship with SRF and presented a commemorative gift.
SRF appreciates the outstanding technology and engineering skills as well as the sincere and earnest working attitudes of the engineers sent by TEK and the Industrial Filaments Technical Dept., Engineering Dept., and Quality Assurance Sect. of Toray's Okazaki Plant. Mr. Ashish Bharat Ram, Managing Director of SRF, repeatedly expressed the company's gratitude and appreciation to the Toray Group in his speech at the ceremony.
