On April 12, His Excellency Mr. Philippe Faure, French Ambassador to Japan, headed a delegation visiting our Ehime Plant and was warmly welcomed by Mr. Shinichi Koizumi, Executive Vice President of Toray, Mr. Motoyuki Tomiyama, General Manager of Ehime Plant, and Plant managers.

Last October, Toray received the France-Japan Investment Award due to its highly valued contributions to exchanges between the two countries and development of the French economy through the business operations in France. The visit came about in response to an invitation from the Ehime Plant, Toray’s manufacturing site for advanced materials, to improve understanding of Toray Group.

After a briefing on the Ehime Plant, outlines were presented of our carbon fiber and water treatment businesses. The delegation then had a tour of the reverse osmosis (RO) membrane element assembly line as well as the spinning and burning processes for Torayca* carbon fibers. Ambassador Faure showed strong interest in Toray’s advanced materials and its high standards in technology. Through an active question and answer session, we were confident that there was a better understanding of Toray Group’s focus on the environmental preservation and advanced technologies.
