Brasil
Toray Marketing e Vendas (Brasil) Ltda. (TMB)
Representative Office
Fernando Takiyama Jr.

  1. Q1. What does your company do?
My company has basically 2 functions in South America:
    -Marketing for developing potential investments.
-Sales & Support for existing Toray G customers and Development of new customers.
  2. Q2. What does your department/section do and what work are you in charge of?
I am the only one official employee, being a sort of Deputy Representative for all the Toray Businesses in Brazil. Basically the functions are the same of Question 1. A new local salesman is expected to be hired in 1Q 2008.
  3. Q3. What kind of job do you mainly put a lot of effort into?
Together with TIAM and TREC, 50% of my time is spared for the resin business. With the salesman to be assigned for the resin business, I’ll be able to shift my efforts for developing investments and new businesses.
TIAM and TREC: Toray International America Inc. (TIAM) and Toray Resin Co. (TREC)
  4. Q4. When do you feel rewarded at work?
I feel rewarded when I close sales deals and huge supply contracts and make our Toray brand more recognized in the market. I also feel satisfied to find only our own material packages at a customer’s plant.
  5. Q5. What was your most impressive work?
The most impressive work was, of course, to start up the Toray presence in Brazil by establishing our company in March 2006. At that time, we knew that it would be important to study the market and expand the business and establish sales/logistics channels locally. In 2008, we expect to double the 2006/2007 Group revenue in Brazil.
  6. Q6. What is it that you put a lot of effort into in your personal life?
In my personal life, I lived abroad 9 years totally. So, mainly for work communication needs, I dedicated long years of my life to acquire conversational fluency in some languages such as English, Japanese and Spanish. All these languages, together with my native Portuguese, are now very useful for the Toray international business and sales activities in the South American region.
