Controller Department
Joseph Lam

  1. Q1. What does your company do?
We will mark the 6th anniversary of the establishment of TSCH in June this year. Our company provides the corporate supporting services including management, finance, accounting, logistics, human resources and IT systems to Toray’s subsidiaries in the region (i.e. THK, TAK, TPHK, TFH and RKH).
THK: Toray Industries (H.K.) Ltd. , TAK: TAL Knits Ltd. , TPHK: Toray Plastics (Hong Kong) Ltd. , TFH: Toray Film Products (Hong Kong) Ltd. , RKH: Toray Sanko Precision (Hong Kong) Ltd.
  2. Q2. What does your department/section do and what work are you in charge of?
Our department supports the accounting work and coordinates the daily business operations amongst different departments, and provides consultation for the finance for our clients. I am mainly in charge of the business of THK and its subsidiaries. Management reporting, operations control and credit control are my routine duties.
  3. Q3. What kind of job do you mainly put a lot of effort into?
To cope with the rapid business growth of THK, I have been participating in the project to develop the ERP systems with our Systems Department for the period of one year, and now we have started phase two development in March.
  4. Q4. When do you feel rewarded at work?
Our company provides corporate supporting services, while other group companies operate their businesses in marketing products. I feel rewarded whenever our proposed solutions gave a great deal of satisfaction to any client.
  5. Q5. What was your most impressive work?
The business is growing very fast in the region, and it implies the market is also changing even faster. We have to meet the needs of the market properly and swiftly. We now have to finish the mentioned ERP systems of phase 1 implementation in six months. This tight-scheduled situation strengthens the relationships among all the colleagues assigned by different departments and companies for the project development.
  6. Q6. What is it that you put a lot of effort into in your personal life?
It’s been one year since I started learning Tai Chi every Sunday morning. I practice it for one hour on a twice-weekly basis. Tai Chi involves many elements of Chinese philosophy that could be practically applied to your daily life. I’m still just a beginner, but firmly determined to keep practicing Tai Chi and make a step-by-step progress. It may take a long time for me to go up to a higher level.
