Acquiring new customers and launching new products in the Korean market

  1. Q1. What was your most impressive work?
    When I was newly recruited, I participated in the first in-house Best Practice Tournament. As a motivated fresh recruit, I bothered senior colleagues from the manufacturing and research teams for support and prepared a presentation without sleeping for a whole week. After I presented my theme, "Development of High Tenacity Filament Yarns for Industrial Material Application," I got second place. Because my presentation was also recognized as a distinguished example, I went around the company giving lectures, which has fostered my pride as well as loyalty to the company. It has already been ten years since the tournament, but I remember it as if it were yesterday.
  2. Q2. What does your company do?
    TCK, which became a part of Toray Group in 2014, manufactures high value-added products in various fields such as staple fiber, filament yarn, textiles, filters, films, and meta-aramid fiber and strives to do its best to provide unmatched values to the customers.
  3. Q3. What does your department/section do and what work are you in charge of?
    My department sells filament yarn products within Republic of Korea. Leveraging the wealth of marketing experience I accumulated during my business career, I undertake the role of acquiring new customers and launching new products.
  4. Q4. What kind of job do you mainly put a lot of effort into?
    This year, I would like to contribute to the growth of the business division which I belong to by engaging in further thorough market surveys in order to launch to the market differentiated products that match the needs of customers. Although a tough economic outlook for 2016 is expected, I wish to contribute to the company with my business division.
  5. Q5. When do you feel rewarded at work?
    It is when the promotional activities that I have lead have fruited to actual sales and contributed to the business division. I also feel happy when I am spending time with my colleagues, whom I have acquired over the various projects that I have undertaken, as if they were my family.
  6. Q6. What is it that you put a lot of effort into in your personal life?
    In order to collect new market information on filament yarns, I have been diligently studying Japanese. I am also planning to start swimming this year for my health. Although I feel a bit anxious since it's a new challenge for me, I am determined to work as hard to learn swimming as I did with the Japanese language so I can eventually master the butterfly.
