Business Strategy

Toray Group has formulated a long-term corporate vision for a ten-years span and to realize the vision, we have launched new mid-term business strategies to tackle with management reforms.

In April 2006, Toray celebrated its 80th year anniversary in its business. Taking this opportunity, Toray adopted "AP-Innovation TORAY 21," new long-term corporate vision that will guide Toray Group to achieve further advances and development.

To accomplish the vision, the Group launched the new mid-term business strategies "Project Innovation TORAY 2010 (IT-2010)," which has defined management goals, major management issues and basic strategies around 2010, in October 2006.

Long-term Corporate Vision "AP-Innovation TORAY 21"

The corporate slogan of the new vision, "Innovation by Chemistry," reflects our desire to become a "global top company of advanced materials" by pursuing technological innovation through full utilization of its core technologies and their integrated technologies. In addition, we will seek to become a global top company of advanced materials by promoting "Innovation" in every facet of our business activities.

Mid-term Business Strategies "IT-2010"

Under IT-2010, we are targeting "Innovation" across five key management issues: business structure, technologies, competitiveness, business-awareness, and corporate social responsibility (CSR). To promote these innovations, we are initiating eight group-wide projects through which we aim to transform management and give it a strong innovation-oriented approach. Our ultimate target set for around 2010, is to achieve consolidated net sales of ¥1,800 billion and consolidated operating income of ¥150 billion.
