Nanotechnology

Nanotechnology is a field of applied technology whose main theme is the control of materials on a nanometer (one billion of a meter) level. Toray will create new value through advanced nano-materials based on technological integration of its accumulated technologies with its most advanced nanotechnology.

·Nanofiber

Application:
(1) industrial materials including wiping cloth, filters, etc.
(2) cosmetical applications such as health care / skin-care products, etc.
(3) high functional / highly sensitive textiles for apparel use

·Multi-nanolayer film
·Falling Ball Penetration Test
(Height:3m, Weight:2.2kg)

Application:
(1) building materials such as window protection film
(2) electronic-related materials such as flat panel displays, etc.

·DNA chip

Through integration of nanotechnololgy and biotechnology, Toray succeeded in enhancing the sensitivity of DNA chip for gene information analysis by 100-fold higher than conventional type.

Plant-based materials

Toray Group has promoted R&D activities for new materials that will contribute to the development of a sustainable recycling society. We are proactively developing plant-based fibers, plastics, and films products made of such plants as corn which is carbon neutral in the way that it does not add carbon dioxide, the factor in global warming, to the atmosphere.
