TORAY PAN PACIFIC OPEN TENNIS TOURNAMENT 2007
We are honored to announce the 24th Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis Tournament 2007. The tournament will be held from January 27 to February 4, 2007 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium at Sendagaya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.

“Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis Tournament” began in 1984, and it is honored to have a quarter of century history as the largest international tournament in Asia. We support the growth of Japan Tennis not only in Japan but throughout Asia among with the development and fostering of sports culture through tennis.

In the 2006 tournament, we were pleased to attain global attention through the match between Martina Hingis vs. Maria Sharapova, which was broadcasted as news coverage over 210 countries. This match attracted great media attention and public interest, in turn setting two new tournament records of having the most number of spectators for a given match and reaching a record-high spectator count for a given day.

For 2007 tournament, we received pronouncement of 2007 tournament participation from Elena Dementieva, defending champion and Maria Sharapova. In addition, the total number of spectator of the tournament will exceed to 800,000.

Today’s women’s tennis is an age of unprecedented rivalry, thus growing the popularity of tennis amongst many fans. Many popular and talented players, including players making headline news, participates in the tournament each year. The 2007 tournament will promise to meet the spectator’s interest and expectation furthering the interest of tennis.
