We are honored to inform you that we will announce the Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis Tournament 2009 is to be held from September 25 (Fri) to October 3 (Sat), 2009, celebrating its 26th anniversary, at Ariake Colosseum and Ariake Tennis Forest Park in Tokyo.

This year, world women's tennis will be more advanced through the restructuring by the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour. The calendar is more streamlined for players, and the tournament categories are modified and clarified.

According to this restructuring, Toray PPO has changed from "indoor in spring" to "outdoor in autumn". From this year, the prize money is increased to US$2,000,000, and the Singles Main Draw is doubled to 56. Toray PPO is to be held as a "Premier 5" tournament.

This big tournament in the latter stage of the season will be very important for the top players, as well as providing more opportunities for Japanese players to advance to the Main Draw because of the qualifiers' increase. Please enjoy their exciting matches to play in the "Premier 5" limelight.

The total number of Toray PPO spectators will reach to 900,000 this time. Again, we very much appreciate the sincere support from the parties concerned and the fans.
