Toray has developed new technology yielding single yarn with fiber diameter of several dozen nanometers, while the worldfs first nylon nanofiber comprised of 1.4 million or more of these single fibers in the yarn of 44 dtex.
Having a far larger surface area than that of conventional fibers, this nanofiber can exhibit the unique potential functions possessed by the fiber surface, promising various applications as an advanced material.
- (1)Fiber diameter: 20-150nm; polymer: nylon, polyester, PPS, etc.
- (2)Ability to mass-produce using melt spinning method
- (3)Structural-derived flexibility, absorbency, water retention, water absorption, retention, etc.
- (4)Diversified product formats: Woven and knit textiles, non-woven fabric, paper, liquid dispersion elements, etc.

- (1)Wiping cloths, filters, other industrial materials
- (2)Healthcare, skincare and other beauty-related products
- (3)High function/sensitivity textiles and other clothing items
Development and marketing of beauty-related products utilizing the wiping function and adhesive strength originating in extremely fine thinness and water absorption.
