The Water Treatment Technology Center was opened in October 2000 under the Technology Center, to concentrate and coordinate development functions in related technologies and products throughout Toray. As the hub for water treatment technology, the Center works with the research, production and sales divisions to perfect products and processes for specific customer needs.
The Center develops trend-setting products and know-how in the following fields.
Drinking water production
Design and production technology for large-size polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) hollow-fiber microfiltration membrane modules and polyacryl nitrile (PAN) hollow-fiber ultrafiltration membrane modules, membrane-use tap water treatment processes.
Seawater desalination technology
Processes to cut production costs and raise water quality for seawater desalination using reverse osmosis (RO) membrane.
The Center's achievements earned the Society of Chemical Engineers Japan Technology Award in 2000, the Society of Sea Water Science Technology Award in 2002 and the Okochi Memorial Award in 2003.
Wastewater treatment
Design and production technology for membrane bioreactor PVDF immersed flat-sheet membrane modules and wastewater treatment.
Home-use water purifiers
Development of the Torayvino Cassetty Signal* water purifier for tap attachment, high-function filter cartridges to remove water pollutants, other cutting edge home-use water purifiers.
