Cross-Sector Collaboration Among Industry, Government and Academia

Vigorous Technology Exchange Nurtures New Ideas and Technologies.

With chemistry as a technical platform, Toray has its sights set on emerging as a corporate group spearheading international innovation in the integration of Organic Synthetic Chemistry, Polymer Science, Biotechnology and Nanotechnology. Against this backdrop, for Toray to accelerate the speed of its research and development and continue to grow on a genuine global scale, the creation of original and distinctive technology is crucial. Another vital key in this formula consists of vigorous exchanges with engineers from other fields, the promotion of partnerships among industry, government and academia, forging of technological collaboration with overseas companies and other international interaction and cooperation. Torayfs stance on research and development is no longer limited to the domestic scene in Japan, with the arena of its innovative activities now spreading to the global front in search of new ideas, integration and compounding. Working through collaboration among industrial, government and academia reaching beyond national borders or genres, steady efforts will be sustained to create advanced materials and technology characteristic of the newly invigorated Toray.

National Projects

Toray is a key participant in a large number of national projects consigned by NEDO (New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and other government arms, working to advance the R&D for large-scale advanced technologies.
