Under the guiding principle of "Contributing to the society through advanced technologies", Toray Research Center, Inc. (TRC) provides technical support primarily for "cause analysis" and "problem solving" in the field of research, development and manufacturing, using analytical techniques and physical analyses.

TRC was founded in June 1978 by splitting off from the analytical division of Toray Industries, Inc. The purpose of establishing TRC is to give back to society the sophisticated analysis techniques which Toray has accumulated through its wide range of business activities, and contributes to progress in science and technology through the activities of TRC.

In TRC, analytical experts provide technical supports by performing advanced analysis and evaluation using the latest analytical instruments.
TRC also handles contract research and sales of investigative research reports/publications. TRC is widely used within the Toray Group, and by third parties ranging from the R&D and production facilities of companies in general, to universities and research institutions, including those overseas. Our primary and consistent corporate goal has been to help our clients and to keep their trust. We have therefore continued to honor our corporate mottoes of "To provide advanced and reliable technology (TECHNOLOGY)" and "To strictly observe complete confidentiality (TRUST)".

TRC provides technical support in various fields from electronics, industrial materials, and environment/energy, to pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.

To meet recent trends in society and technology, TRC has also been focusing on green innovation related fields such as lithium ion batteries, photovoltaics, fuel cells, power semiconductors, water treatment and biomass. And TRC has also been focusing on biopharmaceutical field such as antibody drugs. Furthermore, TRC has been expanding its business into life innovation related fields based on its cultivated technologies and considerable experiences.

In TRC, technology development effort has been made aggressively to provide more reliable and more sophisticated technological services to our customers. TRC conducts technology development activities not only in-house, but also by participation in national projects, joint research with universities and research institutions, and by using large research facilities such as SPring-8.

Through the constant innovation (reinvention and creation) and hard effort of our staff, we consistently provide more advanced and reliable technologies.

This method enables to analyze distributions of platinum catalyst, carbon carrier and ionomer at a nanoscale, and to provide some information about morphologies of them at any angle.
*A part of these results were obtained in New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) "Development of Innovative Technologies for Reduction in Pt Usage".
