Technical Departments

Our Resin and Chemical-Related Technical Departments focus on organic synthetic chemistry and polymer chemistry as core technologies, and develop innovative processes and advanced materials to contribute to the global environmental preservation by integrating chemical engineering, nanotechnology, computational science, and polymer processing technology. By collaborating with overseas manufacturing and technology development bases, these jobsites offer extremely competitive resin and chemical products and solutions to customers in global. Our chemical process technology, developed through resin and chemical manufacturing, contributes not only to our resin and chemical business, but also to growth of our entire company's business and environmental disaster prevention.

Plastics Technical Dept.

This department develops materials, applications and manufacturing technology for engineering plastics, and has processing, analysis and CAE analysis technology for suggesting solutions to customers. In addition to offering engineering plastics - such as PA, PBT, PPS, LCP and PLA - the department develops new products such as carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin, exports technologies to overseas bases, and collaborates with overseas bases to provide support to overseas customers.

Chiba Plant Toyolac Technical Section

This section develops materials, applications and manufacturing technology for Toray's TOYOLAC® ABS resin. It also provides support to overseas customers, in collaboration with the only overseas polymerization base of any Japanese ABS resin manufacturer.

Shiga Plant PEF Production Department Technical Section

This section develops materials, applications and manufacturing technology for TORAYPEF® - an electron beam cross-linked polyolefin resin foam. It also provides support to overseas customers in collaboration with Toray's US plants.

Chemical Engineering Dept.

This department develops manufacturing technology and new products in the areas of chemical products (synthetic fibers, plastic raw materials, organic raw materials, zeolite catalysts, fine polymers/functional particles, CNT, and biochemicals) and resin products (PA, PPS, PBT, LCP, PAI/API). In addition, the department disseminates chemical process technology developed in the course of resin/chemical manufacturing throughout the entire company, and contributes to the industrialization of advanced materials, development of innovative processes, and development of environmental disaster prevention technology.

Next-generation process pilot plantNext-generation process pilot plant
