Cultivated since the company was first established, Toray's core technologies are organic synthetic chemistry, polymer chemistry, and biotechnology. In addition to continually developing these technologies, we have also expanded our operations from fibers and textiles to films, fine chemicals, and plastic resins. Toray Group continues to move into new business fields, which include electronics & information related products, carbon fibers & advanced composite materials, pharmaceuticals and medical products, and water treatment membranes & systems. In recent years, we have added nanotechnology to our core technologies and are developing advanced materials for growing markets, as well.

Strengthening Fundamental

Targeting greater depth and evolution of the fundamental technologies that form the technical basis at Toray, the Fundamental Technologies Liaison Conferences are currently active in polymerization, yarn-making, fibers application processing, film processing, organic synthesis and other fields. Targets are also being set for nanotechnology, biotechnology and other fundamental technologies vital in forging the future for Toray. A total of 14 Fundamental Technologies Liaison Conferences are presently active, with these groups playing the collective role of an "academic society" within the overall Toray organization.
