I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has offered invaluable understanding and support to Toray Industries, Inc. and the Toray Group over the years.
"Pioneering Change for the World" is our theme for commemorating Toray’s 100th Anniversary.
On the occasion of this major milestone, we are looking back on our history and carefully carrying forward the aspirations that have guided us since our founding, while moving into a new future based on our Corporate Philosophy, "Contributing to society through the creation of new value with innovative ideas, technologies and products."
Toray Industries, Inc. started in 1926 as a rayon yarn production company. Since then, we have developed new materials and expanded our business globally as a basic materials manufacturer, offering a wide range of cutting-edge materials and high-value-added products, including fibers, plastic resins, fine chemicals, films, carbon fiber composite materials, electronics & information-related products, pharmaceutical and medical products, and products for the water treatment and environmental fields.
Materials form the foundation of all industries, and their evolution and functional improvements are essential for industrial development. We take pride in our role as a driving force behind global economic growth and societal innovation.
The Toray Group currently has revenue of approximately 2.6 trillion yen and over 300 group companies in Japan and overseas.
By expanding applications for high-value-added products developed and created in Japan to countries and regions all over the world, we have achieved a continuous growth cycle on a global scale. We will continue to place importance on sustainability, strive to further enhance our corporate value, and meet the expectations of our stakeholders.
As we mark our 100th anniversary, we have set out the key phrase, “Weaving Science into Society,” to express our ambition for the Toray Group ten years from now. At the same time, we have formulated the Long-Term Management Strategy, TORAY Challenges 2035, as well as the Medium-Term Management Program, IGNITION 2028. Our products and services are created through the power of the science that Toray has accumulated over the last 100 years. They generate genuine value only when they are adopted by society, help to solve our customers’ issues, and enrich people’s lives.
Going forward, as a company that weaves science into society, we will work with our stakeholders to take on social issues and continue to create value.
