Striving for the effective operation of water treatment plants that use Toray membrane

Q1. What was your most impressive work?
It was the development of a water quality measurement method to predict the risk of microbial contamination in the membrane process, which sometimes occurs in such as seawater desalination. This water quality measurement method is currently used for water quality diagnosis to prevent problems in the water treatment plants with Toray’s membrane products around the world.
Q2. What does your company do?
Shiga Plant is located in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture, facing Lake Biwa (the largest lake in Japan). The plant is also the place where Toray was founded. It is a research, development and production base for various businesses, such as fibers and textiles, films, electronic and information materials, and water treatment.
Q3. What does your department/section do and what work are you in charge of?
Our team is involved in the development of design and operation technologies to sustainably and efficiently purify and desalinate seawater, river water and wastewater using Toray's water treatment membrane. I am in charge of water quality and membrane performance evaluation and technical supports essential for designs and operations.
Q4. What kind of job do you mainly put a lot of effort into?
We are devoted to promptly diagnosing current situations and suggesting improvements for effective operation of plants where Toray's water treatment membrane is adopted.
Q5. When do you feel rewarded at work?
We feel rewarded when we acquire new contracts based on our suggestions or when the customer has implemented our suggestions and enjoyed good results.
Q6. What is it that you put a lot of effort into in your personal life?
What I am passionate about is going around the aquarium. When I look at the beautiful scenery, living things harmonizing with the water environment, my mind can relax.
