Toray to Continue with PPO Tennis in 2014 and Onwards

Toray Industries, Inc. (headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Akihiro Nikkaku; hereinafter referred to as “Toray”) and ASATSU-DK, Inc. (head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; president: Shinichi Ueno; hereinafter referred to as “ADK”) today announced their decision to continue with the Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis Tournament (hereinafter referred to as “Toray PPO Tennis”) in 2014 and onwards. In 2014, the tournament will be held in the third week of September in Tokyo (Ariake Coliseum is the expected venue).
Toray has been the title sponsor for the PPO Tennis for the past 30 years starting from 1984. From its 10th edition in 1992, Toray PPO Tennis has been the highest ranking Woman’s Tennis Association (WTA) official tournament in Japan.
With the loan period of the tour rights held by Octagon, U.S. expiring, Toray, ADK and Octagon signed a new agreement for Toray PPO Tennis tournament starting in 2014 thereby deciding to continue with the highest ranking WTA official tournament in Japan.
The following is the overview of the event as of now. Toray PPO Tennis 2014 will be held with Toray as the special sponsor and ADK in charge of the planning and management of the event as before.
Toray and ADK will continue with Toray PPO Tennis and is determined make contributions to the development of women’s tennis in Japan.
