In times of emergency, prompt and appropriate response is a decisive factor in the future well-being and ultimate survival of any victim. First aid is the immediate assistance or treatment administered to someone who is injured or suddenly taken ill, before the arrival of an ambulance or an authorized medical practitioner. Good first aid helps to preserve lives, limits worsening health conditions and promotes speedy recovery.
With this in mind, PFR's Fibre Division recently conducted two sessions of First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course on 24 and 31 March 2015 for members of the company's Emergency Response Team (ERT). The trainings were aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of these frontline rescuers to render appropriate first aid treatments during emergency situations.
Conducted by Malaysian Red Crescent, the one-day training covers both theoretical and practical aspects of life-saving, including bandaging, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and physical examination. The knowledge shared by the qualified instructors and hands-on experiences have certainly benefited the ERT participants, and also the company's continuous effort to keep the workplace safe for everyone.
