The commendation ceremony for the GOOD FACTORY AWARDS 2015 instituted by the Japan Management Association (JMA) was held on October 19, 2015 in Tokyo. Penfabric Sdn. Berhad (PAB) of Malaysia won the Factory Management Award, and Managing Director HS Teh, and Director Hideki Okada received the award at the ceremony.
At the same time, Toray was awarded the Commendation of the 5th Anniversary of the GOOD FACTORY AWARDs’ Establishment in recognition of its track record in which four of its Group companies won awards till now. Senior Vice President Akira Umeda and Senior Director Hisae Sasaki attended from Toray, and Umeda spoke on behalf of the award winning companies.
JMA established the GOOD FACTORY AWARDs in 2011 to honor the best factories that embody Japan's monozukuri (manufacturing) as models for other companies to emulate and PAB was recognized for its reform initiatives led by local employees under the local leadership.
Managing Director Teh and Director Okada spoke at the Award Commemoration Seminar (about 130 participants) held on the next day, which was followed by an energetic question-and-answer session.
