On April 15, 2016, Republic of Korea's Minister of Environment Yoon Seongkyu, the head of Daegu Regional Environmental Office, and two other officials visited TCK's Gumi Plant to study TCK's water treatment membrane production technology, the best in the nation.
First of all, we explained Toray Group's business field, the current status of its business in Korea, and TCK to the guests with COO Im Heeseok and Gumi Plant General Manager Moon Sangok participating. Subsequently, they toured the water treatment membrane production plant. Mr. Yoon showed keen interest in the company's water treatment membrane production technology and asked various questions regarding coating and processing while inspecting the membrane production process.
Following the plant tour, the minister remarked that the Ministry of Environment is emphasizing on water treatment membrane and nurturing of the water treatment industry as a solution to worldwide water shortage issue and said that he would like to see TCK carry out research and development of products with superior energy efficiency and excellent quality and at the same time focus on development of overseas markets.
In response, Im called for the Korean government's strong interest in and support for the water treatment business and water treatment material technologies to enable the country to gain international competitiveness in the water treatment business.
