On May 17, 2016, the world’s largest PC manufacturer Lenovo Corporation held a supplier conference in Shenzhen, China, to which Toray Industries, Inc. was invited along with about 520 main suppliers. Makoto Mizobuchi, General Manager of Torayca & Advanced Composites Division at TICH, and Lion Liu, General Manager of Composite Dept. at Toray International Guangzhou Trading Co., Ltd. (TIGT), attended the event. In addition, Hisashi Tanaka, General Manager of Advanced Composites Marketing 1st Dept., and Hisashi Tebaka, Manager of Advanced Composites No. 1 Sect., participated in it from Toray.
The stable quality of the housing products made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) supplied by Toray was highly acclaimed and the company received the Perfect Quality Award, becoming the only Japanese supplier to win the award. Mizobuchi received the commemorative plaque from Lenovo COO Gianfranco Lanci on behalf of Toray Group.
After becoming the world’s largest PC manufacturer in 2013 by capturing the highest market share in terms of the number of PCs it supplied, Lenovo has been further growing its share each year. In his address, Lenovo Vice President Jie Liu said quality is the foundation that Lenovo focuses on the most and said that the company will continue to enhance the quality of its products in the future.
Toray has received the Technology Innovation Award for two consecutive years, in 2014 and 2015, from LCFC (Hefei) Electronics Technology Co., Ltd., Lenovo’s mainstay production subsidiary. It was the first time for Toray to receive an award from Lenovo itself, which holds great significance upon promoting its business to Lenovo.
Drawing great encouragement from this award, Toray will further improve its high quality, which is the company’s strength, and grow together with Lenovo.
