The Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis Tournament executive committee (headquartered in Tokyo’s Minato ward and led by tournament director Yutaka Nakagawa) announced today that the 35th edition of the Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis 2018, the largest international women’s tennis tournament in Japan, will be held at the Arena Tachikawa Tachihi in Tachikawa, Tokyo, from September 15 to 23, 2018.
Since its inception in 1984, the Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis Tournament has been the stage for epic face-offs between the women's tennis superstars of the world, enthralling tennis fans in Japan. The tournament has been held at the Ariake Colosseum and Ariake Tennis Forest Park venue since its 25th edition in 2008, but due to renovations currently underway there, this year’s tournament will be held at Arena Tachikawa Tachihi.
Arena Tachikawa Tachihi is a truly world-class arena in Tachikawa, just opened in October 2017. Plans are in place for hard surface tennis courts to be installed in the new arena for the tournament. A wide variety of other activities are also planned for both visitors and locals to enjoy close to the venue throughout the duration of the tournament. Tennis fans can look forward to another tournament full of riveting matches in this new venue.
