MTSF held its 24th Award Presentation Ceremony on 7 December 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia under the patronage of YB Datuk Seri Panglima Madius Tangau, the Malaysian Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation. Among the distinguished guests were His Excellency Dr. Makio Miyagawa, the Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia, Kazushi Hashimoto, Executive Vice President of Toray Industries, Inc., and Tan Sri Dr. Omar Abdul Rahman, MTSF Chairman.
In his speech, the Minister remarked that the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation is proud of the creativity, responsiveness and collaborative approach displayed by the people of Malaysia, particularly the scientific and technological communities, in meeting new challenges. He urged Malaysians to stay on this path and continue to strive for the success of Malaysia as a developed nation by the year 2020.
He complimented Toray on its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in sponsoring MTSF activities over the last 24 years. Since its inception in 1993, MTSF has assisted many Malaysian scientific communities to accomplish their individual goals in addition to helping Malaysia advance science and technology in today's complex and fast-evolving environment.
At the ceremony, 30 Malaysians, comprising two scientists, 13 young researchers and 15 dedicated school teachers, received awards and grants totaling 410,000 ringgit.
