Toray Industries, Inc. (headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Akihiro Nikkaku; hereinafter referred to as "Toray") today announced that it has formulated the Toray Group Sustainability Vision, which integrates the Toray Group Initiatives and the Quantitative Targets for Fiscal 2030 for realizing the World as Envisioned by the Toray Group in 2050.

Today, climate change, water scarcity, and resource depletion are just some of the mounting environmental challenges facing the planet earth with the global population expected to increase to some 10 billion by 2050 and aging demographics on the increase, and sustainability has become the most important global issue of the 21st century. Ever since it was founded in 1926, the Toray Group has continued making progress with the belief that materials can change lives, being true to its fundamental corporate principle of contributing to society. The Group believes that its mission is to deliver innovative technologies and advanced materials that provide real solutions to the challenges the world faces in balancing development and sustainability.

The Toray Group Sustainability Vision spells out the Group’s thinking and medium- to long-term initiatives regarding its contribution to the society through business activities and resultant reduction in environmental burden.

The Toray Group will spare no effort to continue to grow without negatively impacting global sustainability efforts. By delivering on its corporate philosophy of "contributing to society through the creation of new value with innovative ideas, technologies and products," the Group will do its utmost to address global issues, including the goals of the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while working closely with its business partners worldwide.
