　Toray Industries, Inc. (head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Akihiro Nikkaku; hereinafter referred to as “Toray”) announced today that it would start selling a cleaning cloth for dog food bowls made of ultrafine fiber Toraysee ™Z (three designs, 19 cm x 19 cm in full color at \1,600 excluding tax; 19 cm x 13 cm in full color at \1,200 excluding tax; 19 cm x 13 cm in one color with logo at \900 excluding tax), developed jointly with Mr. Mac (head office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; President: Seiji Hioki), a store specializing in dog goods, from mid-October 2018.

　Dogs’ saliva is alkaline, in which bacteria grow easily, and it forms a biofilm, a membrane-like community of microorganisms. The biofilm is said to be the reason behind the sliminess of dog food bowls, and is not easily removed even with detergents creating a headache for dog owners.
　At present, there are about 9 million pet dogs in Japan. The cleaning cloth for dog food bowls that Toray is introducing now is an innovative product that solves this dog owners’ trouble by easily removing the biofilm.

　The cleaning cloth for dog food bowls uses Toraysee™Z (80% polyester and 20% nylon) for lens cloth, a sister product of Toraysee ™, Toray’s long-seller. The company applied a special processing to Toraysee ™Z to make it optimal for doing dishes. The cloth lets users to completely clean the feeding bowls without using detergent.
　The cloth is free from chemical treatment and has sustainably good cleaning capability even when used repeatedly, and users can use it safely for cleaning the bowls of their pet dogs.
　The ultrafine fibers have high reproducibility of printed images. Customers can print their own designs to create original items for novelty goods.

　The company expects sales of 100,000 pieces of cleaning cloth for dog food bowls in the first fiscal year, followed by 500,000 pieces annually in three years. It plans to add more variations and expand sales of the product.
■Product features
1) The ultrafine fibers with diameter of 4 to 6 micron one after another go into minute dirt and remove it. The removed dirt is firmly caught in the numerous micro pockets between fibers and the sliminess of the dog’s saliva is completely removed by washing with the cloth and water alone.
2) It is not treated with chemical and is safe to use for your pet dog. The effect is sustained even after repeated washing.
