MTSF held its Board of Directors and Annual General Meeting on September 18, 2018 at One World Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. MTSF Chairman Tan Sri Dr. Omar Abdul Rahman welcomed the new managing director Teh Hock Soon, who was attending the meetings for the first time. Teh is the current Toray Industries, Inc.’s Chief Representative for Malaysia as well as the managing director of Toray Industries (Malaysia) Sdn. Berhad (TML) and Penfabric Sdn. Berhad (PAB).
At the meetings, Teh briefed members on the activities that had been successfully carried out by MTSF during the year. He reported that the number of applications for all the three MTSF annual programmes had increased, probably due to the publicity generated at the roadshows held by the secretariat members in March 2018. On behalf of Toray, Teh expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude for the selfless contributions of the board members, many of whom have been with MTSF since its establishment in 1993.
In addition to Chairman Omar and Managing Director Teh, the current board members of MTSF are Professor Emeritus of Universiti Sains Malaysia Augustine Ong, Pro Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia M. Jegathesan, Professor Emeritus of Universiti Putra Malaysia Syed Jalaludin bin Syed Salim, Professor Emeritus of University of Malaya Yong Hoi Sen, Council member of Academy of Sciences Malaysia Dr. Tengku Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen and Toray Plastics (Malaysia) Sdn. Berhad (TPM) Managing Director Akihiro Omura. Under their leadership, MTSF is committed to advance science and technology in Malaysia for many more years to come.
