On January 18, 2019, the South China Safety Meeting was held for Toray Group companies in South China at Toray Plastics Precision (Zhongshan) Ltd. (TPPZ) in Zhongshan, China. Some 52 people from 10 companies attended the meeting, which began with Toray Industries (China) Co., Ltd. (TCH) Vice Chairman Masaru Okutomi’s opening address, following which the special safety awards were presented to companies that continued with zero accident and zero occupational injury record.
Subsequently, Yasuyoshi Nishikawa, Senior Staff at Toray Industries, Inc.’s Environment & Safety Dept., gave the keynote speech, in which he analyzed the occupational accidents in 2018 as well as the accidents that occurred in China and discussed thorough implementation of “Anzen Koh-Doh” (“thoughtful safety action”) and activities to eliminate similar accidents.
Following the speech, Toray Film Products (Zhongshan) Ltd. (TFZ), Toray Plastics (Chengdu) Co., Ltd. (TPCD), and Toray Sakai Weaving & Dyeing (Nantong) Co., Ltd. (TSD), a Toray Group company in East China which presented their safety activities at the Toray Group Safety Meeting in December 2018 in Japan, reported on their safety activities. Following the presentation, the participants asked many questions and offered advices, making the meeting a great opportunity for further improvement of activities at each company and spreading good practice throughout the Group.
TCH Chairman Kazuhiko Shuto then reviewed the presentation and requested the companies to tighten safety awareness, ensure the basics of safety at each company, and continue with a perfect zero accident record in 2019.
Finally, all participants of the meeting performed the pointing and calling of the safety slogan and ended the safety meeting with a renewed resolution to ensure safety.
