The 27th Safety Convention of Toray Group Companies in Malaysia (hereinafter referred to as “TGM”) was held on 22 January 2019 at the TGM Training Centre. This annual event is aimed at improving safety awareness among all associates of the TGM. It is also a platform for the Group companies to present their efforts and achievement pertaining to their respective safety activities throughout the year 2018. About 80 Associates from Toray Industries (Malaysia) Sdn. Berhad (TML), Penfabric Sdn. Berhad (PAB), Toray Plastics (Malaysia) Sdn. Berhad (TPM), Penfibre Sdn. Berhad (PFR), and Toray Malaysia Systems Solution Sdn. Bhd. (TMS) attended the function led by their respective managing directors.
After the safety pledge, the convention kicked off with an opening speech by TPM Managing Director Akihiro Omura, the TGM Safety Chairman. Prizes were then presented by Teh Hock Soon, Toray Industries, Inc.’s Chief Representative for Malaysia cum Managing Director of TML, to the winners of the safety slogan writing and safety poster drawing competitions.
The highlight of the day was the safety presentation by the various presenters who reported on their safety activities, safety awareness improvement and countermeasures carried out at the respective factories. These presentations helped the associates gain valuable insight into one another’s safety initiatives. Later on, through the Q&A session, a lot of information and knowledge was shared.
The event concluded with comments by each mill/plant manager, followed by the safety pledge and a simple lunch.
