The 25th ITSF Presentation Ceremony was held at Hotel Mulia Senayan, Jakarta in Indonesia on March 5, 2019.
The guests who graced the ceremony included Toray Industries, Inc. Executive Vice President Ryo Murayama, Mr. Hari Purwanto, Advisor of Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of Indonesia, Mr. Supriano, Director General of Teachers and Education Personnel at Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia, and Mr. Yoshio Ando, Minister of Japanese embassy in Indonesia. The ceremony started off with the opening address by Dr. Laksana Tri Handoko, Chairman of ITSF, and the guests expressed their gratitude to Toray’s contributions through ITSF.
This year, Dr. Cece Sumantri, Professor of Bogor Agricultural University, received the Science and Technology Award, while 18 scientists were awarded the Science and Technology Research Grant, and nine middle and high school teachers received the Science Education Award.
A briefing session by the winners of the previous year’s Science and Technology Research Grant was held on March 4, the day before the ceremony. The briefing was divided into the three fields of physics and engineering, chemistry and biotechnology, and biology and environment, and the researchers reported their research results and had deep discussions with the members of selection committee, judges and participants. A science education seminar was held along with the briefing session where education specialists delivered lectures and the 9 recipients of this year’s Science Education Award gave presentations on the educational materials they developed. Some 275 people, the full capacity, participated in the briefing session and seminar.
