As part of Toray’s social contribution activities, Toray Group employees from diverse professional backgrounds visited schools around Japan and held lectures from the end of January to March 2019. In fiscal year 2018 (from April 2018 to March 2019), the employees held lectures at a total of 45 schools and directly conveyed, to a total of 3,122 children, how interesting science is and the potential of materials that contribute to society.
At Toshima Municipal Nagasaki Elementary School in Tokyo, the fifth graders asked questions one after another and expressed their thoughts following the lecture. One student said “I also would like to get a job through which I can contribute to the society in the future,” which encouraged us.
Going into fiscal year 2019, we will continue to proactively hold such lectures in cooperation with Toray’s plants and Group companies.
