On 15 April 2019, a delegation from Toray Group companies in Malaysia (hereinafter referred to as “TGM”) led by Toray Industries, Inc.’s Chief Representative for Malaysia Teh Hock Soon and Deputy Representative Hirokazu Kurome paid a courtesy visit to the recently appointed Chief Police Officer of Penang State, Dato’ Narenasagaran Thangavello and his team of senior officers. The purpose of the visit was to enhance the good ties between both parties.
On behalf of Toray, Teh conveyed his deep appreciation and gratitude for the vital role played by the police in keeping peace, security and order in Penang where Toray has extensive investments in multiple locations over the last 47 years.
In response, Dato’ Narenasagaran acknowledged Toray’s substantial contributions to the local community in terms of job creation and corporate social responsibility. He assured that the security and safety aspects of the Penang State are well under control and stated that if the TGM encounters any security issues, the local police will do its best to help out. In response to a request from Teh, Dato’ Narenasagaran agreed to increase police patrols at the factory locations during major festivals when many companies have shutdown periods so as to deter break-ins and theft attempts.
Lastly, Dato’ Narenasagaran expressed his intention to make a site visit to TGM in the near future to which Teh responded that the Chief Police Officer and his team would be always welcome to visit and have better understanding of its operations.
