Toray was chosen as one of the Derwent Top 100 Global Innovators 2018-19 by Clarivate Analytics (formerly the Intellectual Property and Science business of Thomson Reuters (U.S.)) for the third time following its selection in 2015 and 2017. On April 2, 2019 at Toray’s head office, the trophy was presented to Toray Executive Vice President Koichi Abe by Ms. Yoshiko Tanahashi, Vice President of Clarivate Analytics (Japan) Co., Ltd., the company’s Japanese subsidiary.
The award is given to the most innovative companies and institutions in the world by analyzing the intellectual properties and patent trends based on the patent data held by Clarivate Analytics. Toray's initiatives in improving the quality of its patents and strengthening its foreign patent applications were rated highly.
Active exchange of opinions regarding topics such as the selection process for the award and Toray’s intellectual property-related activities was held ahead of the presentation ceremony.
