On May 23, 2019, Masahiro Yamaguchi, Plant Head of TID, delivered a lecture to some 40 high school students at a summer camp organized by IIIT, which is situated in the Sri City Industrial Site in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
This summer camp was organized by IIIT as a means to let promising high school students, chosen from across South India, to get to know cutting-edge technology and activities of global corporations, and TID was requested to deliver the lecture representing the private companies operating in the Sri City Industrial Site.
Yamaguchi, after introducing Toray Group and explaining its initiatives regarding the global environmental issues, demonstrated a filtration experiment using hollow fiber membrane. The students had many questions such as “Does the hollow fiber membrane use biodegradable materials?” and “How is it different from reverse-osmosis (RO) membrane?” making it a lively Q&A session.
TID will continue to contribute to the development of the local community through active interaction with the stakeholders.
