From June 12 to 14, 2019, Toray Industries (America), Inc. (TAM), with the cooperation of Toray Plastics (America), Inc. (TPA), held the 2019 (12th) USMT at TPA’s Rhode Island Plant, located in the state of Rhode Island, and 19 participants from eight Toray Group companies in the Americas participated in it. This year, four participants from Toray Advanced Composites USA Inc. (TAC US), which became a member of the Toray Group last year, two from Zoltek de Mexico S.A. de C.V. (ZMX) and one from Toray Resin Mexico, S.A. de C.V. (TRMX) also joined the training.
It is a three-day training session targeting section managers and supervisors, which is held every year for the participants to
(1) understand Toray’s corporate philosophy and Medium-Term Management Program, Project AP-G 2019; (2) understand Toray-style management (safety management, corporate ethics and legal compliance, cost management and human resource management); and
(3) improve skills of human resources and organizational management.
Speaking at the start of the training, Christopher Roy, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Torayfan Division at TPA, spoke of what is expected of leaders at Toray Group. Subsequently, the training program including a lecture by in-house instructors, group discussions and presentations was completed as scheduled. Kei Shimaji, Toray’s Chief Representative for America joined the session on the second day of the program and gave the participants valuable advices at critical junctures of the lectures and group discussions.
The three-day training enabled the participants, hailing from various fields and diverse backgrounds, to interact and build a precious personal network for the future. We hope the participants will apply what they have learned in the training session in their respective responsibilities and become even more successful as leaders of the Toray Group companies in the Americas.
